Burning Ground
Hastings City Art Gallery, Te Whare Toi O Heretaunga
August - November 2026 Group Exhibition
Burning Ground embodies the living legacy of studio potters Bruce Martin (1925-2023) and Estelle Martin (1930-2001), alongside a new generation following in their footsteps.
'Contemporary potters Holly Morgan and Scott Brough have recently revived one of the Martins’ heritage anagama kilns, firing it several times with the support of friends and fellow potters to produce new works for this exhibition. Each artist has created a new body of work that highlights the processes and joys of anagama firing.'

No Control
Ākina Heretaunga, 10-18 June 2023
solo exhibition
An exhibition in response to Cyclone Gabrielle which devastated many regions but had a significant impact to the Hawkes Bay. In reflection to the importance and impacts of water.
...'As someone who works with clay, I depend on it. Without it I'm crumbling dirt in my hands and making dust.'
A sink to take the literal into practice, a pitcher and tumblers to celebrate the community coming together to fill each other's cups up, a large water storage vessel, and a community rain chain..As a maker I sought comfort in the thing I knew best and found peace through the process. I hope that No Control can give people a sense of calm and hope just like I felt when making these.
