Wood Fired Teabowl 4

Wood Fired Teabowl 4

A unique one of a kind teabowl, made with hand dug iron clay from Driving Creek Railway in the Coromandel. Wood fired in a 200cbf kiln in the Hawkes Bay with a carbon trapping shino glaze. The unique properties of this historic clay have bleed throuh in the firing, creating a metalic shine to the piece. The blackened sides are where pure wood ash was hitting the side of it. This piece was fired to about cone 12 (1324C) which is just upon melting point for this clay body, its slightly warped shape has made it the perfect ergonomic design for holding comfortably.
